Dental Care And Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19)

As Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) has changed the global landscape and every aspect of life these past several months, many questions arise as to the safest ways to return to daily activities.

While we’ve all done our best to shelter in place as instructed, maintain adequate social distancing, wear masks and gloves, and wash our hands frequently during this pandemic, it’s a bit more complicated when medical or dental care is required.

As dentistry involves close contact between the patient and dental team plus the potential exposure to aerosol sprays and surfaces contaminated with saliva, and blood, a heightened level of safety practices and protocols are required.

At Pembroke Smile Center the health and safety of our patients, along with our entire office team, remain our top priorities. We are closely monitoring all aspects of the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) pandemic and meticulously following the recommendations of the American Dental Association (ADA) and The Centers For Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

There’s no doubt that things will look a little different from your last trip to the dentist before the pandemic. Clearly, we have entered a new era in healthcare. But rest assured, you can count on our office to take every step needed to ensure the continued safety, comfort, and health of our patients.

To protect our patients and office team, we have incorporated the following technology, practices, and protocols:

  • Air purifications systems in every room and a UV light enhanced air conditioning system
  • Hand sanitizing stations in each room as well as the lobby area and at the front desk
  • Every patient must fill out a COVID-19 questionnaire before coming to the office or treatment
  • Routine temperature checks before care
  • Requiring all patients to wear a face mask when entering and leaving the office
  • Bringing patients directly into their respective treatment room to eliminate waiting room contact
  • Disinfecting patients hands and their footwear as well as the provision of shoe covers
  • Having patients use an antimicrobial rinse before any dental procedure
  • Reducing the amount of aerosol spray by limiting the use of the cavitron during dental cleanings

Of course, outside of providing treatment, we strictly adhered to social distancing throughout the office. You can also trust that we will continue to keep apprised of the latest news concerning the virus itself as well as all developments in treatment and technology to address its spread.

At the office of Pembroke Smile Center, you can rest assured your dental treatment is in the best of hands. For more information on our services, and the steps we’ve taken to address the latest challenges in care, give us a call today.
